What is Covered in a DBT Orientation?

Our DBT Orientation Class is an opportunity to speak about your needs, learn about our program and understand how DBT can help you understand your challenges and learn to make changes.

All new participants are required to attend a group orientation prior to starting one of our programs in order to ensure that this program is the right fit for your individual needs.  We also have an ethical and legal obligation to acquire informed consent from every participant before initiating therapy.

Orientation Agenda

  1. What is DBT? (including what challenges does DBT address and who benefits from DBT).

  2. What is the Bio-Social Model? This is our framework that helps us understand why we may have developed the types of mental health challenges that we experience.

  3. Is a group environment right for you?

  4. What to expect in an online DBT skills group environment?
